About me
Hello, and thank you for deciding to find out more about me.
My name is Christopher John Peat and I am a thirty-something living in South London with a long-standing fascination, education and career in digital. I’ve got experience on a fair few sides of the coin working client and agency side across a range of industries and have an undergraduate degree in Multimedia and Internet Technology and a MBA.
The part I find wonderful about digital is the way that it can take you through such a varied journey each day and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of my digital career.
It all started in Manchester where I studied for my undergraduate degree in Multimedia and went on to get my first job as a web designer/developer for a software house. Looking back on it now I was very lucky to get employment straight after my degree in comparison to graduates these days who have to be happy with a Mc Job.
I spent three and a half years in my first web role, then took on a KTP Associate role with a London University which was a fantastic opportunity. Through this role I went client side for Europe’s largest Nutrition charity, the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, implementing a full digital overhaul of the organisation including digital presence and marketing, e-learning facilities and IT systems. Along the path I was also asked to provide guest lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate Multimedia students, presented academic research papers in Africa and the US and gained a fully funded MBA.
Once I had the necessary skills to align business strategy with online strategy I became the eBusiness Manager which really cemented a transition from developer to online manager and ‘key thinker’. Challenges lay ahead and I welcomed a move to one of the first organisations in the UK to receive a Royal Charter, The College of Teachers.
The experiences of developing key digital functionality and understanding the alignment of open source technology to small to medium enterprise then came full swing and I developed key on….
